Obstestricans - Who’s Managing The Baby?

You’ve spent the last nine months caring for the mother and now that the baby is here, who is caring for her/him at your hospital? Ideally, every hospital would provide a Level 3 NICU with 24/7 coverage but this isn’t feasible. We provide the next closest option; practitioners skilled at neonatal resuscitation overseen by board certified neonatologists attending your deliveries at any hour of the day. By providing more timely and accurate interventions, including initiation of hypothermia for hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, we can limit the liability associated with providing delivery services at a hospital without a Level 3 NICU.

Pediatricians - You run a busy practice

By the time you drive to the hospital to see the newborns in your practice and make it back to your office, you often have a long line of patients waiting for you. Furthermore, for what you will earn for this service, your time could be put to more effective use seeing patients in your office. In addition, if you are providing services for a Level 2 NICU, your day is typically filled with multiple phone calls with questions from the hospital. It is challenging to provide comprehensive inpatient care and remain focused on your office practice. With Firstday Healthcare services at the hospital, you can focus on your practice knowing that our neonatal nurse practitioners and neonatologists are providing quality care for your newborns at the hospital and will be ready to see you upon their discharge.
