He has been widely published in leading Pediatric journals regarding best practices for umbilical cord clamping in high risk infants as well as indicators of brain injury in former premature infants.
He is the co-founder of FirstDay Healthcare which is reshaping the traditional approach to newborn care by allowing infants born at hospitals of all sizes benefit from first class neonatal care.
Robert Koppel MD Chief Medical Officer
Dr Koppel serves as the Director of Regional Perinatal Services at Cohen Children's Medical Center of New York and is Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the North Shore LIJ – Hofstra School of Medicine.
He has been at the forefront of the development of has r pulse oximetry screening for critical congenital heart disease which has become the standard of care for newborns. Dr. Koppel has been widely published in multiple journals as well as textbooks and along with Dr. Sommers is a co-founder of FirstDay Healthcare.
